My Skincare Journey

There have been only two occasions in my adult life when I had to actively intervene and address issues with my skin. The first instance occurred in 2015, after a course of antibiotics (amoxicillin) resulted in a severe yeast infection that affected my face.

The second occurred in July of this year, when a supplement (MSM) I used for approximately two weeks to try and boost hair growth, triggered the most severe hormonal acne breakout I have ever experienced instead. I started documenting it on TikTok and later, started this blog.
As a teen, I had quite a sporadic skincare routine—if you could even call it a routine. But honestly, unless you're dealing with hormonal acne at that age, youthful skin doesn't really need a 5-step routine.
While I was at uni I switched to a more structured, albeit quite basic routine, consisting of 3 products from Dermalogica (thanks student loan). A cleanser, toner, exfoliator and a random moisturiser that I can't remember the make of. It was only after the yeast infection in 2015 that I really started deep diving into different products with "active ingredients" which led me to The Ordinary.
During this process I discovered new information about my skin type, which order to use products and what to use to effectively resurface my textured skin.
The upcoming posts will be about my journey from then to now, what I've learned and have come to appreciate about skin along the way and I hope you'll find something in them that helps
